sync vs copy / move / link

item in HD directory folder
<CTRL>5 Sync w URp folder A
item appears in URp folder A
<ALT>L copy item to URp folder B
Back to folder A <SHFT><DEL> item
Repeat step 2
item re-appears in folder A

Once its permanently deleted, it shouldn't show up again.

Unless you check 'Also delete any synchronized Outlook objects or external files' on Shift+Del or manually delete the file from disk, by design, syncing the folder again will recreate the item in UR (it will actually logically link to the copy with the same URL if 'Tools | Options | Import (More) | Create logically linked items for duplicate URLs' is checked).

I understand the option for deleting in SHFT DEL dialog. This was checked tho i failed to mention this.

If I understand your post, If I logically link to another folder, the on sync the item will be recreated based on the option you mentioned which I will chk after I finish this post.

Inserted Edit: option was set to add same URLs duplicates which I guess refers to <ALT>L+copy command? Is that right? If so, then the rest of this msg is answered.

End edit

However, what baffled me was using the copy command because, as I understand copy, this is a totally different item, i.e. not linked & yet I believe the item was being recreated on sync command.

So could you comment on *copy* ccmmand as it applies to this issue.

Example.

In email client I rcv status rpt on mail order item

I save this eml to sync folder
I sync to that folder in URp
That email appears.
I add a reminder to it to remind me to pick it up
When I complete the task, I flag it complete.
I copy completed item to vendor contact
I then <SHFT><DEL> item in sync folder

This way I retain completed delivery notice w vendor notes but delete it from URp sync folder & from HD.

Problem is the status rpt finds its way back to my sync folder.....????

The logical linking on sync will occur if the original item was linked or copied (since it will have same URL in either case). The only reason it would be recreated/logically linked in UR on sync is if it still exists on disk in the subfolder of the synced folder.
