Question How do you use Ultra Recall?

I'm trying to get an idea of how best to use Ultra Recall (new user). Reading the manual lets me know what CAN be done, but I'm interested in what WORKS for users of UR....

Which of the below situations best describes how you use UR?

a) I use UR as an archive repository. I don't necessarily work within UR. Primarily, I put stuff into UR because I know I can leverage it's search capability to find what I need later.

b) I use UR as an integration point. I use the document templates extensively, and I have links to my other applications so I can launch them from within Ultra Recall. I tend to keep my documents on my hard drive and link to them instead of storing them in UR.

c) I use UR as a virtual workspace. I create document templates for all the types of content I need and then create documents while inside UR and use the F11 key to work on an item in full view. I even do some MS Outlook item work from within UR and use synchronization (v3 feature). I store everything I create within UR to take advantage of compression and a single file to hold my content.

d) I collect all information and place it inside UR. I'm a big fan of the custom form ability in version 3 and have started creating forms to let me enter my data and store it directly in UR attribute fields.

So, which type of UR user are you? Some combination of the above? Describe how you use UR to make a difference in your work!!

Regarding d) templates are not new in V3, maybe you meant forms.

I won't say how I use UR, it's my little secret, but it's quite complex. For me, it's the combination of
ATTRIBUTES + LINKS + SAVED SEARCHES + TEMPLATES

It's a killer combination, to be honest, knowing now how much I can do with it, and how much it helps me, I'd pay maybe 3 times more than kinook is asking for this software.

Unhappy Wont' share your approach?

Re: templates vs. forms - you're right. I corrected the error. Thanks!

Just curious - Why in the world would you not desire to help fellow UR users by sharing your experience and usage?

I honestly believe that the only outcome that will result from our sharing is that we can all become more proficient at using UR. This, in turn, lets us show other non-users just how powerful it is.

The more people use (purchase) and support UR, the more capable the fine Kinook folks can make the platform (more licensed users for them, more funds to continue development for all).

Perhaps you disagree? Curiosity is killing me....

Ditto! This is why I spend quite some time trying to help new users when they have some troubles, or at least I try. Cause kinook is based in US, and I'm in Europe, so if I can reply to someone in European time, they can get help faster. Basically for the same reason that you explain above. Also, I try to give useful suggestions to kinook, so that this software can progress. I already recommended this software to many people, cause I genuinely think it's great, and "word of mouth" is the best way for getting new clients.

Nevertheless, mentioning all the above, I realized that this software can give me a little edge in my business (or at least I believe or convinced myself), and it's the little edge that you need today to survive in the strong competition.

So you see now, I'd like to help, really, but something in the back on my head is telling me not to do so too much. What can I do? Am I bad person?
