Named flags

it just occurred to me that it would be better (for me, maybe others?) - to be able to assign custom names to the colored flags - as otherwise I have to remember what each color stands for - and my memory doesn't work well in that regards. So it would be great to see, when you click on the little dot to the left of any Item that brings up to the flag pick list - that instead of seeing; green flag, red flag etc - that they are able to be assigned instead with personally meaningful custom descriptors.

And then if that were possible, it might then make sense to be able to create, and assign colors from a palette, an arbitrary number of new flags each with meaningful custom names...

Thanks, IJG

Re: named flags

Ian, your suggestion about being able to name the flags makes a lot of sense, as does the suggestion of having a palette. In fact, it would be good if, in addition to the flags, there was a selection of other icons that could be named. Each named flag or other icon then becomes the basis for a predefined search -- how cool and time saving that woulld be!

Nothing to add, just want to second this really good idea. I thought a couple of times to use these pretty flags with customized searches - and always rejected it, cause I know if there are only colors without text, they will be given by daily mood sooner or later...

Even more important if you like to share the database with somebody else.

I like the way Photoshop elements deals with this problem for pictures by having tags that can be named to whatever with just a small icon (Customisable) next to any taged picture that also tells you what it is if hovered over.

They also have numbered icons if you just want to rate or set an importance level and by right clicking over the small icon by the picture you can re-set to another number.

It is very easy to then separate any taged pictures out of many thousands by just a couple of clicks.

Something similar would work well with Ulra recall.

Colours are fine and I do use them but some method of customising would be much more helpfull as an exra.

I'd also like to be an advocate of this feature. Would make a formidable plus to UR. I myself imagine doing many interesting things with it.

I support this request as well. I use colored flags to differentiate between customer types (lead, prospect, project, installed base) and have tagged the linked contacts accordingly. Its just a visual cane ;-)
