Default Name of an OL Copied Item/MSG

Now, when you copy an OL msg/item to UR, its name default to something ike this ...

outlook:00000000C7F41990E1E367459F38F36AF75B41C507 00AD90FF94AB773D45A629C602A39527970000008572260000 ECE90B815E6FBF4B911AF3E6F3C2187E000000C525540000

I do not know how many of us really find this informative. Is there away to have it default to the subject line instead?

If not, it would be probably a nice thing to squeeze in on your next feature list.

Importing from Outlook to UR Professional should set the item title to match the message subject (it does in my tests w/ Outlook 2003 and UR 2.0c on Windows XP SP2). Please post or send the info from Help | About | Install Info, the version of Outlook you're running, and details on what and how you are copying from Outlook.

This is what I do to copy MSG...
1) select a MSG.
2) click 'copy to UtlraRecall'
3) MSG is copied to 'imported items' with this long string in the item info name.

The only difference I see is that I tested w/ Outlook 2003 SP2. Can you ZIP and post or send the .msg file in question?

Hi,
For the past 10 days, this issue has returned 3 times now. Copying from OL creates items with this long OL internal ID string and using global paste key creates text items that are blank with a title 'new text'. This is what I know...

- reinstalling the app does NOT fix it.
- uninstalling, removing the directory, then reinstalling, fixes it.
- I could not associate this behavior with any specific event, so I'm not sure what causes it to return.

Needless to say, I'm kind of tired of having to go this drill to fix the issue. There is got to be a fix for this somehow somewhere.

The thing is I made this investment to boost my productivity and I truly can not afford these frequent setbacks. I'm willing to work with you to get this resolved.

As usual, this is my install...

The next time the problem occurs, use RegEdit to export the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall" and ZIP and send it to support@kinook.com. Thanks.

ok. I think I got it figured out. Soon after sending you the registry keys, my UL created new key and set itself to use defaults. I had to go to 'options' and reset things back to my liking. One of the settings I always applied is remove all extensions from import-->keywording-->file extensions. Soon after I did that, the issue returned. I, then, went back to this setting and added '.msg' and to did an OL msg import and it worked just fine. Same thing happened once I added '.rtf' to this box.

So this is what caused it.

Is this by design?

Your attachment didn't come through, but one thing I thought of: If you uncheck 'Tools | Options | Import (More) | Use document title for item title if available,' imported Outlook items will get their URL as the title instead of the item title (this is by design).

Yes, removing .msg from the keyword extensions would also prevent the actual title of an OL item from being used. It's not exactly by design, and we'll probably change this in the future, but for now, just leave .msg in that option.
