Anybody Experiencing These Bugs?
Before I continue work on my encyclopedic URp bug reports (yes, I understand all the requested documentation is necessary for effective troubleshooting) I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced these two issues:
1. Problems with multiple open databases (in this case 2): a) If UR is set to run when Windows starts, only the most recently used database will open on the next startup, but if UR is closed and started manually both databases will open (which is how it should work), HOWEVER this workaround leads to another issue. b) When UR starts with two databases open it locks up when I try to switch to the second database. The problem persists across repeated closings and openings. One workaround I found is to close UR and open one database file directly, then open the second file. Switching works fine after that, but the locking up problem returns on the next UR startup. 2. Title bar GUI bugs: a) Sometimes the title bar fails to appear or appears then disappears, but will appear after switching to another window or minimizing and restoring the UR window. b) Sometimes the Minimize/Restore/Close buttons disappear, but will reappear after switching focus to another window or minimizing and restoring the UR window. c) Sometimes the Minimize/Restore/Close buttons will display skewed toward the middle of the title bar, but will return to the normal right hand corner after switching focus to another window or minimizing and restoring the UR window. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Ultra Recall Professional 3.2.5 Registered to: ******* (1-user license) Windows version: 5.1.2600.2.0 Install path: C:\Program Files\UltraRecall EncryptPDF.dll version 3.0.0.2 mimepp.dll version 3.0.4 pdf2txt.dll version 3.1.0.4 PolarSpellChecker.dll version 4.0.5.4 riched20.dll version 5.50.99.2014 SftPrintPreview_IX86_U_10.dll version 1.05 SftTree_IX86_U_50.dll version 5.06 UltraRecall.exe version 3.2.5.1 unins000.exe version 51.47.0.0 Database filename: C:\Documents and Settings\Mike\My Documents\UltraRecall\Personal.urd Database version: 3.0.13 ----------------------------------------------------------------- OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600 System Manufacturer INTEL_ System Model D875BZLK System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~2793 Mhz BIOS Version/Date Intel Corp. I have seen 2b when using the Office 2007 theme (looks like a bug in the GUI framework we're using). Using another theme (Tools | Customize | Options | Paint theme) should avoid these issues.
I have not seen the others. One other user reported 1b if 'Tools | Options | General | Minimize application window at startup' was checked; so try unchecking that option if checked. To determine which database(s) open at startup (regardless of which were open when exited previously), uncheck 'Tools | Options | General | Run Ultra Recall when Windows starts' and create shortcut(s) to the db(s) to open in your start menu Startup folder. |

Thanks for the quick response. Switching themes did elimitate the title bar issues, but I ended up changing back. I like the Office 2007 theme enough to live with a few quirks.
So far it looks like unchecking 'Minimize application window at startup' has resolved 1b. Where does this leave us as far as these issues? Should I: a) Learn to live with the workarounds. b) Send more details using the support email address. c) Assume that issues are on the UR bug list and no additional info is needed unless explcitely stated otherwise. |

Any informaton you can send regarding the problems we haven't been able to reproduce could help us investigate them.

I got 2b a lot under Windows XP; haven't seen it since I switched to Vista yesterday, but it's early days ...
