Split an item?

Hi,

I create lists in a single item.

I'd like to have URP3 be able to split that text using the paragraph as a delimiter and convert my single item into a bunch of siblings.

If there's a way to do that now, that would be sweet.

Otherwise, can it get put on the roadmap?

Thanks.

Regards,
Bal

Oh - and I was thinking it would be nice to do the reverse, but you sort of can by multi-selecting items, selecting and copying all the text shown and then paste that as a single item. But a "join" command would be more elegant. :)

If each line of your List is to be the Item Title of a new Item, could you select all desired lines in the List, then copy/paste to Notepad (save a text file), then Import back into UR.

Granted, gross overview of process and not very elegant...

Or am I misunderstanding the desire.

Good suggestion... not as elegant as a split command - which Info Select does have, but certainly workable.

Thanks a lot.

A little more depth on the process...

From Notepad insert the string "Item Title" (without the quotes) as the first line of the text file.

From UR, your Import source should be "Delimited text file (csv)", once you select the text file to import (and have checked "first row contains field names") the field mapping is automatic.

Essentially, your text file is a delimited file without anything delimited - only one value (field) to import.

Works great ashwken!

Thanks.

The reason I wanted this - and now I have it after a fashion (thanks again!) is that I want to brainstorm my list - which is fastest as a single item.

The next thing is to bin-sort all the items. This is easiest done if each item in the list is a UR3P item.

Once I'm done bin-sorting them, I can then join them all together in the correct bins and sorts.

Bal
