Calling the right browser

I have Mozilla Firefox specified as my default browser, but when opening pdf documents from UR externally sometimes Internet Explorer is called instead.

Is there any setting in UR that will ensure documents always open in Firefox?

(Apologies if this is covered elsewhere on the forum since I imagine it must have been. I have searched).

I think I have partly answered my own question. By setting Foxit as my default reader, Internet Explorer is not called.

So presumably where Mozilla is the default browser, Internet Explorer is still called to open pdfs unless, eg, Foxit is instead specified.

And presumably that means that Mozilla can't itself read pdfs?

Ctrl+J or Item | Open Document will open a document item in its associated application, which for .pdf files will typically be a PDF reader (Adobe, Foxit, etc.).

Adobe and Foxit provide IE plugins that allow it to display PDFs internally, but when I tried to open a .pdf file with Firefox (using the Explorer menu [Ctrl+E, Open With]), it prompted for which application to show it in, so apparently there isn't a way for Firefox to render PDFs internally (maybe there is some extension that can, but apparently Adobe/Foxit don't make one).

Kinook. Thank you for that. How difficult it must be for you to design UR to interface with all these products given that they all behave differently!

I believe FF extension "PDF Download v0931" might do the trick.

In FF, Tools | Add ons | Get Extensions

Janriff - thank you for that.

I just also tried "PDF Download" Mozilla Add on which, in their own words

"Allows to choose if you want to view inside the browser (as PDF or ), if you want to view it outside Firefox with your default or custom PDF reader, or if you want to download it"
