Derived/Computer Fields
 

Is it possible for UR to display derived/computed fields? Say, a total of all paychecks and royalties I've received, or number of students attending my class.

Not yet, but it's been requested.

"Title attribute based on other attribute values" is on the Road Map (http://www.kinook.com/Forum/showthre...&threadid=3204), hopefully this feature can be expanded to include all Attributes.

Currently, you'll probably need to export a range of Items (records) to CSV, then open in Excel to perform the calculation.

One avenue of investigation may be along the the lines of having an Excel file as a template or linked/stored file within UR, then syncing to the Excel file. Maybe others have done some work in this area.

Now I begin to see the limitations of UR as of today:
1. it doesn't support derived/computed fields;
2. it doesnt' support macro;
3. it doesn't support VBA.

Now I begin to see the difference between UR and other database apps such as Visual FoxPro, Delphi, and FileMaker.

Nonetheless, it's still the most powerful and most affordable data collection tool available. To say the least, it's better than OneNote.

If you want those features, you'd be better off with SQLNotes, plus it is free while in beta.

Thanks for your suggestion. Definitely I'll look into it especially when considering it's free and, above all, capable to manage data in the .urds.

Checked it out:
It seems like it doesn't support macro's nor VBA either.

Nor does it look as mature yet. Messy interface i.e.

Other than that it looks promising (pretty flexible approach + in some areas already more advanced).

I couldn't find anything about it supporting URD files though?
