completed item - not so
 

User creates item w daily recurring reminder
user marks item completed
next day item reminder reappears

It would seem to this user that item completed flag should negate/override all recurring settings as item is *completed*

Or if date completed is checked.

Turning off an item's reminder if Flag is set to Completed or Date Completed is updated seems like a good suggestion.

which flag is completed? I have them completely renamed (I don't, but I could ;-) )

If you are going to make sth like this, please make it more general, sth like "Attribute rules", to apply after setting certain attribute, so that user could customize it to create sth like:

Flag=completed => reminder=unset
Flag=completed => Date completed=%today%
Location=home => City=New York (add if doesn't have)
Location=home => Country=USA (add if doesn't have) ...
