What size of database do you all have, just wondering if anyone is having any issues with any large Databases, also how many items do you store?

I have been using UR for a while now and am really impressed with what it can do, so over the next few days I am going to migrate all my data from other apps/databases into UR, so was just curious as to what size and the number of items people are storing.

This is probably my largest UR database, from File | Properties, and Date Created for Root Folder:

Created : 06-22-2006
Items : 6202
File Size : 388mb
Stored Docs Size: 420mb

I'm sure there are larger and older instances out there.

Do you have any problems with this in terms of speed or searching?

I am currently nowhere near this:

Items : 955
File Size : 26mb
Stored Docs Size: 28mb

My name is Quant Copperfield, and I guess that your Root Folder created time is 21:31 ...

Uhmm, Date Created for the Root Folder reflects some internal date/time point of the UR exe version (?), not the date/time of database creation.

Just created a new database, Date Created : 10-15-2007 5:33pm.

Actual Date of Creation : 11-20-2007 11:45am

Is there an Attribute that shows actual database creation date, just curious?

I would say no, not yet.

While searching speed is not very fast (I have complained about performance in UR before, but it seems to have improved), it is reasonable. File load is very fast. I am much more satisfied with large database performance than I was previously.

I do! But it depends on how "speed of searching" is defined. Is it the the time that UR returns the results , or the time you actually find what you're looking for?

The former is only slightly dependent on the size of db, but if you reach some very high numbers (maybe 20000, 30000 ... see sqlite documentation) it will slow considerably.

If it is the latter, the one I'm concerned about, the time until you find sth that you look for will be approximately linearly dependent on the size of actual db. This is not enough!!!

For the discussion of this point, see relevance search (http://www.kinook.com/Forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1133&highlight=relevance)

If the database is exlusively devoted to archived email, why would I? Please explain how this would be beneficial.

Wow Jon that's a big database, I dont think I need to worry it will take me a number of years to get to that size, and hopefully UR and SQLLite will have improved with regards to searching by then.
