recurring by hours?

I have an item I need to be reminded of 3x daily.

Can I set up a 6 hour recurring reminder?

I know I can set up a 6 hr snooze. Thank you.

Currently the shortest recurrence period that can be set on an item is 1 day, so it is not possible to set an item to recur multiple times in a single day.

The simplest solution would be to create three items, one for each reminder - each with an appropriate Begin Time and Recurring value of "Daily".
