It would aid interpreting the log and error reports if steps were numbered as well as named.

In large builds it is hard to avoid reusing step names and that can lead to confusion in the log where it may take some digging to determine which of several steps with the same name is involved.

Icing would be to be able to specify the step number as part of the step name when using find to find a step. Something like "127:Rename extension" where 127 is the step number, or even just "127:" to specify the step number or alternatively a "Match step numbers" check box in the find dialog.

Including the step number in the output and logs is available in v7.
