Suddenly, when clicking on Alternate Layout menu command, the following error message appears:

Access violation
Exception 0xC0000005 occurred in module C:\Program Files\UltraRecall\UltraRecall.exe at address 0x2E0C8D77, offset 0x00228D77.

I highly recommend regularly exporting a copy of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kinook Software to a .REG file for backup purposes.

I also highly recommend making frequent backup of directory: C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Kinook Software [and all its contents therein]

BECAUSE:

By deleting both HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kinook Software and directory C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Kinook Software

and then booting up Ultra Recall, then quitting Ultra Recall

thereafter importing the backup .REG file into the registry, then restoring the directory of Kinook's application data files referenced above

I was able to salvage my most recent custom setting and use the Alternate Layout command WITHOUT an error message.

Found a way to force the Alternate Layout bug to reappear:

Make changes to toolbar, create new toolbar group and add buttons to it.

Alternate Layout button results in the afore-mentioned error message.

I can't reproduce the access violation with the steps you provided. Can you provide more detail?

What OS/Service Pack are you using? What version of Ultra Recall? You can view at Help -> About -> Install Info...

Using Version 1.2, on Windows XP (SP2).

I noticed that the bug usually crops up when Alternate Layout is active.

But if you cannot reproduce the bug, then perhaps the cause of the problem is unique to my workstation.
